IT Support Technician
Full time (including occasional out of hours of support)
£22,500 to £27,000 per year depending on experience
Are you interested in a role in a small dedicated IT Team? Are you passionate about making a positive impact? Join our team as an IT Support Technician, where you’ll support our Hospice’s essential IT Infrastructure and Services. You’ll handle 1st and 2nd line support, resolving both hardware and software issues, while meeting internal SLAs defined by the IT Manager to maintain staff satisfaction and operational efficiency.
You’ll be a part of our ongoing technology initiatives, assisting with new hardware and software rollouts and communicating effectively to ensure minimal business disruption.
Key Responsibilities:
First-Line Support:
- Respond to IT support requests via phone, email, or in person, providing timely assistance.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues (desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals).
- Install, configure, and update applications and operating systems.
- Manage user accounts, including password resets and access permissions.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting and resolve connectivity issues.
- Document all support activities and maintain accurate incident records.
- Participate in out-of-hours remote support as per a monthly rota.
- Work with the IT Manager and Senior Support Technician to maintain comprehensive system documentation.
- Assist in more complex technical issues, escalating to Senior Support as necessary.
Second-Line Support: (with suitable experience)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot server, network, and infrastructure problems.
- Manage and maintain server systems, ensuring regular backups, updates, and security patches.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to resolve advanced technical issues.
- Assist in developing IT policies and procedures to maintain system security and efficiency.
Other Duties:
- Perform other tasks as required by the IT Manager or CEO/Directors.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff.
- Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting, user administration, and server management.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn further skills.
