‘Brave the shave’ taken to the next level in aid of local charity
Two friends from Longridge have shaved opposite sides of their head and beards off in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.
As seasoned Movember supporters, Fiorentino Ferrari from Ferrari County House, and David Dinsdale, manager at the Tap and Vent, Longridge decided they would take their latest fundraising effort to another level.
Fiorentino said: “We have completed Movember so many times, this time we wanted to do something more interesting. That’s why we decided to shave half our hair and beards off – Dave also dyed his red.”
The pair decided to support the local charity after Fiorentino’s dad, Ginio Ferrari, and David’s uncle, Andrew Dickenson, were cared for by the hospice. Ginio stayed in the hospice in early 2015, following his diagnosis of lung cancer and Andrew following his diagnosis of prostate cancer.
The shave took place at the Tap and Vent, welcoming locals to watch who also took part in the raffle to help raise extra funds.
Fiorentino added: “We’d like to say a special thank you to Tap and Vent, Anderton’s Butchers, Ferrari Country House and the Dog Inn for providing raffle prizes.”
Fundraising officer at St Catherine’s Hospice, Hayley Jackson said “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Fiorentino and David for raising £1,657.50 for St Catherine’s. With their support ,we’re able to continue providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people at the hospice, in their homes and across Central Lancashire.”
