C & W Berry raises funds for St Catherine’s Hospice
Leyland-based C & W Berry Ltd has raised a fantastic £2,500 for St Catherine’s Hospice following the firm’s annual trade show – and the generosity of one lucky customer.
The hardware store held a trade show for customers, suppliers and staff in September 2017. The event saw a range of new products available and included games and a raffle, with a variety of prizes on offer including the top prize of a Bosch tool kit.
Customer Peter Livesey was the lucky winner of the BOSH tool kit. It was then that Peter decided he wanted to support St Catherine’s Hospice with his winning prize, and teamed up with C & W Berry to raffle off the tool kit in aid of the charity.
Peter, a builder from Penwortham, joined forces with David Starkey, a web sales and marketing employee at C & W Berry, to raffle off the tool kit.
Peter said: “I was really keen to support St Catherine’s Hospice as it’s a charity close to many people’s hearts, and many people know someone who has been helped by the hospice in some way.
“With the support of Berry, who was also selling raffle tickets, I started to sell tickets to friends, family and anyone else who was interested.”
St Catherine’s fundraising officer, Hayley Jackson, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Peter and everyone at C & W Berry for supporting the hospice – their amazing efforts have raised a wonderful £2,500. It’s generosity like this which enables us to continue providing our specialist care and support to local people and families affected by life-shortening illnesses across Central Lancashire.”
