Collection in memory of Mum raises £800
A collection made in memory of a much-loved Mum raised £800 to support the work of St Catherine’s Hospice.
Maureen Hood was cared for at St Catherine’s Hospice for around four weeks before she died at the start of January this year.
A collection was made at her funeral in aid of St Catherine’s and raised an amazing £800 thanks to the generosity of family and friends.
Sons Allan and Paul Hood visited the hospice to hand over the proceeds, and called in at the chapel to light a candle in memory of their Mum.
Paul said: “Mum had been in hospital for several weeks before she arrived at St Catherine’s and the whole atmosphere here was just completely different.
“She felt comfortable and well looked after and it was such a calm and peaceful place. We had family flowers at the funeral and knew that the place we wanted to support with a collection was St Catherine’s – they were just fantastic.”
Paul is also set to take part in this year’s Moonlight and Memories Walk on Saturday June 6th in aid of St Catherine’s. He will complete the 16 mile route walking in memory of his Mum, while his wife Michaela and other family and friends will take on the eight-mile circuit.
