Father and son complete 50-mile cycle ride in aid of hospice
A father and son duo from Higher Walton have completed their second fundraising challenge to raise money for the hospice.
In 2005, Shaun and Michel Bashall completed the Three Peaks Walk in less than nine hours for St Catherine’s. This inspired them to complete their latest challenge, a 50-mile cycle ride from Higher Walton to Blackpool Tower.
Shaun said: “My wife and myself have lost relatives to cancer, and in their last days they were cared for by the amazing staff at St Catherine’s. For this reason our fundraising efforts will always be for such a great cause.
“Cycling is a hobby of mine; Michael wanted to take part in the ride so we trained together beforehand and completed the journey in three hours and 20 minutes. It was a lovely sunny day and the ride was enjoyable.”
Hospice fundraiser, Hayley Jackson, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Shaun and Michael for raising £785 for the hospice. With their support, it means we can continue providing the specialised care for local people, when it matters most.”
