Flooring firm raises more than £750 for the hospice
Ouch!
Two brave colleagues from a Preston flooring firm bared their chests for a sponsored wax to raise cash for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Damien Dashti, who works in the backing plant of Forbo Flooring in Bamber Bridge, and Steve Greenwood, a trainee tufter, carried out the stunt as part of the firm’s commitment to raise funds for the charity.
Other fundraising activities included selling numbers on football cards – with £40 going to St Catherine’s and £20 to the person whose team was picked as the winner at random – and a sponsored moustache giteming challenge.
The company, a global flooring provider, also raffled off 10 days holiday for different staff members at their Preston site.
In total the firm raised a brilliant £753.66 which will help fund the specialised and end of life care St Catherine’s Hospice provides to people with life-limiting illnesses across Chorley, Longridge, Preston and South Ribble.
Karen Shatwell, a designer at Forbo who sits on the charity committee, said: “Everyone at Forbo is thrilled to have raised this money for such a deserving, local charity – and we all had lots of fun in the process!”
Lynne Whittaker, senior fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We are very grateful to everyone at Forbo for their efforts raising funds to support the hospice’s work.”
