Football fans sit on ALL of stadium’s 23,404 seats!
Eleven football fans took to Preston North End’s stadium to play a rather unusual game of ‘musical chairs’.
Ian Bamber and 10 friends spent eight hours making their way round Deepdale to sit on all 23,404 seats, in a determined fundraising effort for St Catherine’s Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Ian’s sister Melanie Bamber received support from both charities, and the family wanted to help raise awareness and funds for the two worthy causes.
The ‘Bums on Seats’ idea came after Ian remembered footie stars Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage completing a similar challenge at Wembly in 2014 – Battle of the Backsides – in aid of Sport Relief.
The group raised around £1,800 for the hospice.
Ian and his nephew Ryan – Melanie’s son – are now planning to walk from Ian’s hometown of Telford to St Catherine’s over three days next summer, carrying 10 kilos on their back, in a further bid to generate important funds for the hospice.
