From day therapy to Blackpool prom…patients enjoyed a summer sing-along
Day therapy patients took a nostalgic trip to the seaside with a sing-along session accompanied by film footage of Blackpool prom in the 1950s.
Musician Karl Boyle performed a host of old favourites including I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside, We’re All Going on a Summer Holiday and Bring Me Sunshine, as well as some George Formby classics accompanied by his banjolele.
Patients and volunteers were encouraged to sing-along as old footage of Blackpool prom and lido was played on a projector.
Karl said: “It aimed to be a virtual trip back to the seaside at a certain period of time which doesn’t exist anymore.”
Patient Gordon Hodgson said: “It was entertaining and humanising – and nice to enjoy something a little different at the hospice.”
