Hospice supporters to take to the sands of Morecambe Bay for sponsored walk
St Catherine’s Hospice is encouraging walkers to take to the sands of Morecambe Bay for a sponsored eight-mile climb in aid of the charity.
The walk will be led by the Queen’s Guide to the Sands, Cedric Robinson MBE, and will give supporters the opportunity to enjoy one of the country’s most popular scenic walks, with spectacular panoramic views.
St Catherine’s is offering a return coach transfer from the hospice in Lostock Hall to the start and finish points in Cumbria, to make it more convenient for supporters on the day. Places are limited and must be booked in advance.
St Catherine’s fundraiser Rochelle Crichton said: “Morecambe Bay Walk is a great day out for the whole family to get involved in.
“Walking the sands of Morecambe Bay is on a lot of people’s ‘to do’ list, and involves trekking over various terrains – including wading through water – whilst enjoying the beautiful views.
“It’s great fun, and is an important part of the St Catherine’s fundraising calendar, helping us to continue caring for people with life shortening illnesses.”
Morecambe Bay Walk takes place on Saturday September 10th and will begin at 11.15am at Arnside in Cumbria, taking around three hours to complete. It will finish at Kents Bank, Cumbria. The coach will leave St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Lane at 9am and will return at around 4pm.
Registration is £10 for adults and £5 for children, and the cost of a return journey on the St Catherine’s coach is £10 per person. Register for the walk here.
