Plant sale and car boot to spruce up St Catherine’s Park this weekend
Green-fingered hospice supporters are being invited to stock up on gardening goods at the St Catherine’s Hospice popular plant and flower market, which this year has the added attraction of a car boot sale where visitors will be able to bag a bargain.
The annual Plant Sale, taking place on Sunday, May 1 in the grounds of St Catherine’s Park in Lostock Hall, offers everyone from flower-growing novices to gardening gurus the chance to spruce up their gardens in time for summer, whilst helping to raise funds for the charity.
And bargain-hunters will enjoy exploring the car boot, which is being introduced following the popularity of a small selection of pre-loved goods stalls at last year’s event.
Car boot pitches are still available – costing £10 per car and £12 per van – offering people the perfect way to raise some extra pennies following a spring clean clear-out.
The charity’s head of trading, Rachel Hewitt, said: “People enjoyed the added element of the bric-a-brac stalls at our annual Plant Sale last year, but we’re taking it one step further this spring with a car boot sale.
“People love a good rummage and you can find all sorts of bargains and unique goodies at car boots, so I’m excited to see what treasures people bring along on the day.
“And of course there will be a huge selection of bedding flowers, hanging baskets, and seasonal plants on offer to inspire visitors to boost their gardens with blooms this summer.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing some of St Catherine’s loyal supporters on the day, and hopefully plenty of new faces too.”
BBC Radio Lancashire will be broadcasting live from the event, which takes place from 9am until 3pm, for its weekly Lancashire Outdoors show, and The Mill cafe will be open serving up breakfast, lunch and sweet treats.
Pitches for the car boot can be booked by emailing trading@stcatherines.co.uk or calling 01772 629171.
