Race night raises funds for St Catherine’s Hospice
A café assistant from our onsite café The Mill has gone one step further to raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Carole Shultz, from Leyland, held a race night at Farington Social Club earlier this year.
More than 100 people attended the annual event which included a raffle, auction and a hot pot supper.
Raffle and auction items included wine, chocolate, afternoon tea at the Mill, a meal for four people cooked by the Mill’s apprentice chef Alex, a cake donated by St Catherine’s patisserie chef Tony and more.
Carole said: “I usually organise a race night every year. They’re lots of fun and I really enjoy organising them.
“This year I decided to support St Catherine’s, it’s a local charity very close to my heart. Along with working in the café, my dad was cared for by the hospice in 1994 after his diagnosis of cancer.”
St Catherine’s fundraising officer, Hayley Jackson, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Carole for continuing to support the hospice and raising a fantastic £1,311.00. With the continued support from people like Carole in the community, we’re able to continue providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care to the people of Central Lancashire.”
