RAFT residents host bingo event for hospice
The Residents Association of Farringdon and Thirlmere (RAFT) hosted a community bingo event in aid of the hospice, after one of their members spoke of her experience of St Catherine’s.
Centre manager Dot Halliwell explained: “Our member Debbie Banks wanted to organise a fundraising event in support of St Catherine’s Hospice as a ‘thank you’ for looking after one of her relatives, as well as relatives of other residents in the area who have benefited by the charity’s support.
“Debbie and a few others organised a special bingo event and all the profits were donated to the hospice. We would like to thank local businesses for their kind donations of vouchers for various items, including free meals in local restaurants, beauty treatments, flowers, hairstyling and more.
“We would also like to thank the residents, who not only attended the event, but donated funds to enable us to purchase bingo prizes. And last but not least, we’d like to thank the volunteers who stepped up to the plate to deliver the event on the evening – including our star caller Pauline (Polly) Watson – ‘The voice of Farri Bingo’.”
