St Catherine’s hands over £5,000 to Christmas raffle winner
Congratulations to Sheila Birch from Chorley who scooped the £5,000 top prize in the St Catherine’s Hospice Christmas raffle.
The mother-of-three’s winning ticket was drawn by Santa at the hospice’s first ever Christmas Festival.
She said: “I’ve been playing the lottery for about six years and didn’t think I would ever win, I just wanted to support such a worthy cause.
“I couldn’t believe it when I heard my ticket had been drawn – I honestly thought it was a joke!
“I’ll be treating the family at Christmas and my husband David enjoys fishing so I’ll be sending him on the fishing trip he’s always wanted to go on.”
The St Catherine’s Hospice Lottery is a great and fun way to help us to be there for the people of Chorley, Longridge, Preston and South Ribble when it matters most.
All profits raised through the lottery help to fund patient care both at the hospice at Lostock Hall and in the local community.
Sheila has sadly lost a number of friends at the hospice and praised the work of the dedicated staff.
“I think St Catherine’s Hospice is an amazing place – it’s such a nice place to visit, you really don’t feel scared at all. As soon as I enter I feel bright and happy.
“I’ve seen how the hospice helps people in so many different ways. I’m happy that I can play the lottery and do my bit to support their great work.”
