The Black Bull and Godwin’s Fish & Chips host charity fundraising weekend in aid of the hospice
A big charity fundraising weekend was hosted by The Black Bull Inn and Godwin’s Fish & Chips in Penwortham, offering fun for all the family.
Manager of The Black Bull Ian Robinson and Carol Bracewell from Godwin’s Fish & Chips teamed up to organise three fundraising events – a quiz night, cocktail and beach party and a family fun afternoon.
A fairground, bouncy castle, tombola and live entertainment provided by singer Daniella Gallagher were a few of the attractions at the family fun afternoon.
Carol said: “Local businesses were really supportive of our fundraising weekend, we had lots of prizes donated for the tombola. I have a close connection to the hospice as my mum Pat Johnson passed away in the hospice four years ago – it was great to see everyone showing their support.
“We’re very grateful to the staff from Godwin’s and The Black Bull who gave their time for free and also to the brave supporters who were sponsored to sit in the bath of beer slops for an hour each.”
Emma Jacovelli, fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice said: “We’re extremely grateful to The Black Bull and Godwin’s Fish and Chips for hosting the big charity fundraising weekend.
“The community spirit and support from others made the day a real success and means St Catherine’s can be here for local people when it matters most.”
The Co-operative Funeralcare in Penwortham kindly donated £250 in sponsorship.
The big charity fundraising weekend raised a total of £4,260 for the hospice.
