The Bowling Green’s preview days help support St Catherine’s Hospice
A Chorley-based pub and restaurant which offered free main meals to customers during an open weekend, has donated proceeds from the sales of starters and desserts to St Catherine’s Hospice.
The Bowling Green, based in Charnock Richard, held three ‘preview’ days following a refurbishment, and to launch its new menu.
Claire Dix, general manager, explained: “St Catherine’s Hospice was chosen when local people made suggestions of which charity was most meaningful to them.
“After noticing the local charity shops in Chorley and finding out more about the hospice, and all the good work they have done in the Lancashire area, we felt the hospice would be perfect for our donation.”
Pat Breslin, operations director, added: “At The Bowling Green it is really important to us that we contribute and support the local community, by giving something back. The three preview days were a great way for us to do this.”
St Catherine’s fundraiser, Emma Jacovelli, said: “We’re really grateful to everyone at The Bowling Green for the donation of £1,000 – what an innovative way of raising funds for a worthy cause.
“The support means that we’re able to continue providing palliative and end-of-life care to local people when it matters most.”
