There’s a first time for everything!
Congratulations to Chris Hull who took part in his first-ever attempt at fundraising, bydoing a sponsored walk across Morecambe Bay.
The walk was completed in memory of Chris’s mother-in-law, Sylvia Price, who died at St Catherine’s over three years ago. Chris raised a fantastic total of £57.50 by completing the challengewhich was led by the amazing Queen’s Guide to the Sands, Mr Cedric Robinson.
The Morecambe Bay walk was chosen because it had been a long standing ambition of Chris’s to complete it, but also because it’s an on going tradition for people to take part in it, in aid of various charity organisations.
Hundreds of people were there on the day including thefamous mountaineer, Chris Bonnington, who had great fun walking through water that reached up to his knees!
Chris commented, “She (Sylvia) received fantastic support from St Catherine’s and I have always wanted to support the work that they do by doing this particular walk for charity.”
He added, “The day was an outstanding success and was completed in about three and a half hours. The walk itself was fairly straight-forward and apart from the satisfaction of completing the walk, being able to say I’ve been on a walk with one of the most famous UK mountaineers was another highlight of the day. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so I will definitely be trying something else again next year.”
