TSB branch manager completes marathon for St Catherine’s Hospice
Staff at Bamber Bridge’s TSB branch chose St Catherine’s Hospice as their charity of the year in summer 2016 and have already completed a variety of fundraising activities for the hospice.
Some of the fundraising efforts have included a tombola, a Metric Marathon, and a Christmas cake was baked by the branch’s very own Katie Piras – a prize was offered to anyone who guessed the correct weight.
TSB’s latest fundraising activity was completed by keen runner and bank manager Joanne Croasdale who completed the Manchester Marathon in April – a prize was also up for grabs for anyone who guessed Joanne’s closest completion time.
She said: “I’ve been running for three years in total. I started off doing the ‘Couch to 5k’ and since then completed a 10k marathon, half marathon, 26 kilo metric marathon and then the full marathon in April.
“Training started in January; I started running with Blackburn Road Runners three times a week. The running conditions were perfect, the sun was shining and I completed the run in four hours and 51 seconds.”
St Catherine’s fundraiser, Hayley Jackson, said: “We’re extremely grateful to TSB for supporting St Catherine’s Hospice and helping raise much-needed funds, to enable us to continue providing specialist, personalised and compassionate care to local people when it matters most.
“Joanne’s Manchester Marathon raised £777.44 bringing the total current donation from TSB to an incredible £1,604.”
