Turn unwanted Christmas presents into a birthday gift for St Catherine’s Hospice!
St Catherine’s Hospice is appealing for supporters to turn their unwanted Christmas presents into birthday gifts for the charity by donating them so they can be re-sold in their shops.
One of the items on the hospice’s 30th anniversary Give A Gift campaign – a list of 30 different things the charity has been working to achieve in 2015 – is to have had 3,000 people dropping quality items off at their on-site donation centre for re-sale in their charity shops across Chorley, Preston and South Ribble.
The hospice has nearly reached their target, but is appealing for people who may have received unwanted Christmas gifts to donate them to St Catherine’s to help them hit their goal.
Sam Jones, donation centre manager at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We know that amongst the presents under the tree on Christmas Day there might have been the odd gift which, though well-intentioned, wasn’t quite to your fancy. By passing it on to our donation centre we can send it to our most suitable shop for re-sale – that way it gets a new home with someone who appreciates it, all while raising money for St Catherine’s.
“It’s been a busy year here in the donation centre, which acts as a distribution centre for all of the many different things we sell in our charity shops – from home-ware to clothes and accessories. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has called by and donated fantastic, re-saleable items which have helped us to raise vital funds.
“To help us end our anniversary campaign on a high, we’re asking our wonderful supporters to turn any unwanted Christmas gifts they may have received into a birthday gift for the hospice. You’ll be helping us to achieve one of our final 30th anniversary targets, at the same time as making an important contribution at a very special time of year.”
The donation centre is located to the rear of the main St Catherine’s Hospice building in Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall, Preston, PR5 5XU. It is open Tuesday December 29th and Wednesday December 10am until 4pm and Thursday December 31st from 10am until midday. It re-opens as normal on Monday January 4th from 10am until 4pm. Items can also be dropped off at any of the St Catherine’s shops across the area – click here to find your nearest store.
