Waitrose’s wine donation helps day therapy Christmas parties go with a bang!
Day therapy patients at St Catherine’s Hospice raised their glasses to toast a generous supermarket who donated wine for their Christmas parties.
Waitrose Regional Distribution Centre in Leyland donated the mini bottles of red and white wine to the charity which were rolled out at the Christmas celebrations held each day at the hospice in the week before the festivities.
Patients attend on their usual day to enjoy a host of festive activities, including carol singing, games and music, and of course a Christmas dinner of turkey and all the trimmings. This year they could also indulge in a tipple or two with their meal, following the generous donation.
Day therapy sister Julie Davidson said: “Our day therapy patients always enjoy our Christmas parties and this year they have been made extra special by this kind donation from Waitrose.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to them for their support of St Catherine’s this Christmas, and wish them a peaceful and relaxing time over the festivities.”
Fiona Parkes, Distribution Support Manager at the centre, said: “We are so pleased that we could donate the wine to the patients at St Catherine’s in order to add a little extra festive cheer to their seasonal celebrations.
“We have seen the fantastic work that goes on at the hospice to make it a friendly and relaxing environment for all and we wish everyone there a very Merry Christmas.”
