Bollywood night raises funds for St Catherine’s Hospice

A popular Fulwood restaurant received a bling-tastic make-over as part of a charity Bollywood Night to celebrate their first anniversary.

The restaurant partners from Sai Surbhi – Mr Gyan Singh, Mr Sumit Tyagi and Mr Surinder Rana -decided to organise the charity night for St Catherine’s in conjunction with their birthday celebrations, because they wanted to give something back to the local community.

Urvesh Bhagudia, Sai Surbhi manager, said: “We decided to support St Catherine’s, because they help so many people in the local community. So many families have been affected or know someone who has been cared for by the hospice.

“The support we received from the community was fantastic, everyone wanted to get involved, from providing raffle prizes to attending the celebrations.”

The evening itself involved a buffet, entertainment and dancing, quiz, henna tattoo art and a raffle, which saw prizes ranging from a washing machine and beauty voucher to dinner for two.

Urvesh added: “The atmosphere on the night was incredible, over 100 people came to join us in the celebrations.”

St Catherine’s head of community engagement, Emma Jacovelli, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Sai Surbhi for raising a fantastic £1,065. We’re really grateful for their support, which enables us to continue providing specialist palliative and end of life care, at the hospice and across Central Lancashire.”
