Gifts in wills
Gifts in wills make a meaningful difference to our important work, and allow us to go the extra mile as we care for people at the hospice and in their own homes.
We understand how important your family and friends are and that these people will always be considered first when you are writing your will.
If you choose to leave a gift in your will to St Catherine’s, we will spend the money you have donated where it will have the most impact. If you would like your gift to go to something specific, we will ensure your wishes are met.
We understand that whatever you decide is an entirely personal choice, however many people do like to let us know that they are planning to remember St Catherine’s in their will, and we are always here if you would like to discuss anything further.
If you would like to tell us why you have kindly chosen to support St Catherine’s Hospice in your will, you can share your story here

FAQs
I don’t have much to leave. Will my gift still make a difference?
Gifts of all sizes make such a difference to St Catherine’s Hospice. We are extremely grateful for any donation received. Gifts can be anything from a specified sum of money or a percentage of your estate, to a property, or even an item such as jewellery or a painting.
I already have a will – is it too late to donate to St Catherine’s?
No, wills can be updated at any time. If you require a number of changes, it may be worth considering writing a new will.
Do gifts in wills really make a significant difference to the charity?
Yes, donations in wills currently fund the care of 1 in 5 of our patients. We simply wouldn’t be able to operate without the incredible support of our communities.
How does the hospice plan to use donations in wills in the future?
Our vision is to help people experience quality of life to the end of life, and for there to be less unnecessary suffering and frustration at the end of life. Over the coming years we want to reach more people who need our specialist care, and we want to better understand what barriers and misconceptions may be preventing some people from accessing hospice support.
We want to see people earlier in their diagnosis, raise awareness amongst health professionals about our services so that we can respond to patients’ needs sooner, and share our expert knowledge and skills across our communities so that people feel more empowered to help others affected by life-shortening illnesses and bereavement.
